Two bunny ears

Another early morning dash to work = falling back on my uniform. Which isn’t a bad thing, especially when I finally received my waxed cowhide leather jacket. My weekend plans? Breaking him in across 48 hours.

Received a photo from Mario in Amsterdam, wearing one of the shirt jackets I gave him when I was thinning out my closet. On the one hand it makes me sigh when people can pull off what I can’t, but I’m happy that those shackets found a better father than I’d ever be to them.

This shoe has no laces, which is a huge plus for me. I’m ashamed to admit that I don’t know how to tie my shoelaces the way most adults do. I have to make two bunny ears and then tie a simple knot. It does the job.

Most of my shoes don’t have laces; those that do, I keep them tied to a degree that allows me to slip them on and off without having to make bunny ears every time. I think I’m just not into tying shoelaces. That’s Elite level laziness right there.

Porter Yoshida rucksack

For someone who isn’t the biggest fan of backpacks, I own about six. I like variety, but I have huge respect (and a little envy) for people who are content with using the same rucksack for years. If a backpack has been stitched, patched and repaired over time, that’s even cooler.

I found this one new (with tags) at 2nd Street for $40. Great everyday bag (but not for travel).

H&M cap
Sou Sou scarf

I reached for these because of the shoes. Graphic hats and poppy scarves are important when you literally wear black shirts and pants every day. I have to break up the black, otherwise I’m Bono.

H&M gloves
Loewe Puzzle bag

The older I get, the colder my extremities get. Typing at your desk with fingerless gloves looks like an affectation and there’s no getting around it. Whatever.

I don’t like the way the Puzzle bag feels with this jacket, but I was running late and didn’t have time to swap in something different. I honestly could’ve left it at home; the bag contains a little book filled with random notes that I forced friends to scribble down, about 5 pens, painful eyedrops, band-aids, and a gold rechargeable lighter. None of which I used today.

Johnson Leathers chevron jacket

When I was in Japan, I looked at a lot of vintage leather jackets. I ended up making a mental note of elements I liked, with the intention of having a jacket made as my Christmas gift to myself. I wanted waxed leather, rounded edges (collar, front hem corners), chevron seaming details, and a shorter zip. Not radically different from my other leather jackets but I appreciate the difference in this piece.

I’ll be wearing this probably every day to break him in as much as possible. Will track progress on here.
