Cue the naysayers
On my walk home through Union Square, I chatted with Monifah about the state of this city. The sparse foot traffic, car-less Market Street, and empty buildings make downtown feel like some fake movie set. A USF professor of urban planning and management told KTVU that “Downtown SF must evolve into a safe, clean, friendly mixed-use experiential destination, with entertainment, pop-up shops, and ever-changing surprises, much like Tokyo, Paris, New York, and Denver.” DENVER is aspirational?
The Finally Stuffed Clothes with Parchment for Better OOTD Photos outfit
H&M short sleeve button-down
Renegade bandana
Except for my aformentioned graphic tees, my daily top is either a black tee or black button-down. Cue the naysayers, but I prefer short sleeve ones to long sleeve shirts. I run hot, I hate rolling up sleeves, I’m not a lawyer or banker, and I like seeing my tattoo. Tie on a bandana and I’m ready for another tragicomedic day.
Acne Studios Distortion bag
It’s supposed to rain tomorrow and I’d prefer not to risk staining the spongey leather, so I took him out for a walk.
Spoon rings
Pinky ring
Since today’s outfit is standard issue, I pulled out some of the family jewels (by “jewels” I mean hammered spoons and my version of flea market signet ring). Clearly, I’m not much for subtle dainty rings.
The spoon rings were bought on a whim en route to work last December. The pinky ring was bought in NYC. The unusual shape and band won me over. I remember going to great pains to get cash from an ATM because the vendor didn’t believe in cards or Venmo/CashApp. It brought to mind that scene from Frances Ha when she’s running to the ATM to pay for dinner. At least I didn’t trip and bleed like Frances.
Johnson Leathers chevron jacket
WIP. Day 2.
Gucci Falacer shoes
The shape and sporty stripes of this shoe still win me over after 7 years of wear. That wear, however, has warped / bunched up some of the patent leather near the top of my toe, agitating it somewhat. Need to keep shoe trees in them to smooth out those bumps.
Today’s totem: the mighty bee. Bzzz.
