Men of a certain age
On the first day of 2025 my true love gave to me: a very runny head. Spent extra time in the shower and above my electric kettle soaking up steam to unclog my nasal passages. The hotel guests opposite my apartment probably think I’m trying to minimize my pores.
Apart from breakfast at a very packed MKT (saw tie-dye guy again), and writing at my neighborhood Blue Bottle (Union Square is seriously dead), I coughed a lung out on the couch watching interviews of Ben Schwartz before finishing season one of Before We Die (Patrick Gibson is fast becoming a favorite). This year is really gonna be a rager.

Rabbit tee
I’ve heard (and been told) that men of a certain age shouldn’t wear graphic tees. I say it depends on the tee and how you wear it. Then again, if you love it, who cares what people say - wear what you love before the Rapture is upon us.
This no-name tee was from my only trip to Budapest. I was super sick at that time too. Good times.
Vintage Chanel flap bag
This is the oldest bag I own, circa 1995. No hardware, no chains, lined in oxblood leather. It feels like an all-black-clothing YouTuber’s take on a Chanel bag. It feels like it’s from an actual Chanel mens line. It kinda looks fake. I love it.
Bravo Charlie coat
One of those one-of-a-kind finds at the Renegade Craft Fair, with sleeves and a coat hem that hit at the right length. The first time I tried it on, there was an immediate reaction from passersby. It’s a beautiful coat made of upcycled material, but it does require bravery; it’s undoubtedly a statement coat that can feel like you’re saying “NOTICE ME!” when worn. What’s interesting is a lot of straight guys have come up to me to ask about it. Dogs are also drawn to me when I wear this guy.
One432 R2D2 slippers
When I spotted these at Chelsea Market I was drawn to the abstract design. I had no clue they were R2D2 until people on the street started pointing at my feet and yelling “R2!”. Despite having been described as a Sith, I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan. I was wearing these shoes on the day I found the Bravo Charlie coat, which made the try on even more serendipitous. I tend to pair them together as I find they help diffuse each other’s visual noise, if that makes sense.
