The most memorable night ever

The Print-a-go-g0 outfit

What started out as a desire to wear the green Needles cardigan in our chilly office resulted in me toeing the line on a midlife crisis look. Whatever. Layering green on pink on yellow through print is fun.

Point Blank tee

It’s tempting to romanticize the thrifted tee, but the reality is it’s a hazardous item. Did the previous owner wear it to the gym? Is it aging me in a way that makes me look like a senior citizen shopping at Urban Outfitters? Is it promoting an obscure jam band that’s prone to 9 minute guitar solos?

I fucking hate guitar solos. But I love pink talons. I’ll pretend this is some Pacific Northwest college band whose cult following appreciates a catchy hook and knowing a song should quit at the 3:30 mark.

Needles cardigan

Another piece of clothing that reminds me of upholstery or a vintage rug. In other words, enchanting. It’s thin, which doesn’t provide maximum warmth (which is fine - I run hot), yet allows for endless layering. I particularly love when this print peeps out from under black leather.

Chanel Edinburgh bag

The 2012/2013 runway show that featured this bag stays with me. I love Chanel’s history with tweed and Scotland, a place that holds a special place in my heart (their accents, Fran Healy, Scottish John, fish and chips in Oban, my Scottish family in Bishopbriggs, the most memorable night ever in Aberdeen…). The collection’s display in a wintry medieval setting - that’s my idea of fashion. Especially if it brings to mind Queen Bavmorda in Willow.

Tiger scarf

Some girls are drawn to flowers or bows or maritime imagery in their outfits. If I see animal symbols, I’m going to reach for it. When wrapped around the neck in a tight boy scout fashion, it’s distorted to yellow flecks on dark blue, but sometimes people spot the teeth or eyes and it’s like spotting the cute kitty playing hide and seek with you.

Johnson Leathers Type 3 jacket

Always. Always.

Prada fringe loafer

I found the unadorned version on The Real Real about 4 years after wearing the studded fringe loafer. All-black comfort, plays well with formalwear, and offers some visual interest. The easiest online purchase.
