A neutral and an accent

The Jadis Breakfast outfit

Today was a sneaker Sunday. Brought little more than a magazine, upcycled coat, and cozy hat to MKT for breakfast.

Sheep hat

Purchased from Nordstrom Rack in San Marcos. My Belgian friend Chanel used to make sheep noises whenever I wore this in the office. I took it as a compliment.

Nike x Undercover sneakers

My favorite Nike model, remixed to a fantastic tailfin silhouette.

Bravo Charlie coat

Among the sea of beige businessmen having breakfast this morning (there’s a big conference in town), I felt regal and strange. Like Jadis from Narnia or something. Turkish delight, anyone?

The Applaud and Back Away outfit

To my disappointment the day warmed up by midday, so I switched to the Tokyo robe and met with Heath on Fillmore for window shopping (and paninis).

Our browsing gave me the chance to practice something I heard John Mayer share in an interview: instead of grabbing and an amazing item and buying it, he’ll simply put it down and clap his hands in appreciation. This helped as we shopped Nest and Rachel Comey. I said goodbye to Heath with only a few baked goods (to benefit Ukraine) and no new clothes. Winner!

Tokyo robe

I was right to pair this with plain cap and sneakers; they help ground the variegated whimsy of this robe. It felt apropos wearing this offbeat piece while fawning over ornate things in Nest and Rachel Comey. It helped remind me that I already have a lot of personality in my closet. Just applaud these lovely things on sale and back away…

Chanel Portobello flap bag

My last Chanel purchase, found online while bored to tears in Dublin. I had it rushed so that it would be waiting for me when I returned home. It’s surprising how quilted diamond glazed leather works as both a neutral and an accent depending on what you put against it.
