Magazines or comics

And another one bites the dust: They announced that Bloomingdale’s will close this Spring. Downtown continues to decay.

My last purchase from the store was 2022 - my green JW Anderson wooden toggle work jacket. I’m trying to remember my first buy when that side of the mall had its big opening (they were giving away promotional umbrellas). Probably some t-shirt.

While I can’t say I’m a loyal customer, I’ve perused the store a lot: lunch breaks when I worked in the Flood Building; window shopping before a movie, massage appointment, or dinner with Bayonne; beauty counter time with Lagos after work on Fridays... I even had a birthday group activity start inside the men’s floor of Bloomie’s… You’ll be missed.

To add to things, I wasn’t happy with today’s look. The chill in my apartment prompted me to layer more and more. It’s a drag to be busy in a shitty outfit.

The Take Two Things Off Before Leaving The House outfit

Zara cardigan

During my second meeting this morning, an exec told me that I looked like I just returned from a ski chalet in this knit. That’s never good to hear.

Missoni scarf

Missoni scarves are generally too zany and colorful for my liking, but this guy is very much up my street. The tones make up my kind of rainbow, the pattern is uncommon and somewhat grungy, as is the fringe.

Wood and rope necklace

I believe I picked this guy up in Dublin, in a quirky design shop. In theory, I love it. In practice, I’m not sure it works on me. I’ve never seen myself in it and felt it pick me up. Most of the time I’m weighing if it looks good or bad (which might mean it needs to go to a new home).

H&M shiny cap

OK. Time to be honest. This cap isn’t fitting right on my head. It’s not the most flattering shape, and it’s a little too tight (he’s induced a few headaches). This might also need to go.

Anthropolgie trucker coat

Paired well with the cardigan, but something made me feel portly in this all day. Perhaps it was the Carol’s Cookies they had in the kitchen at work.

Gant portfolio

I found this bag in 2nd Street for $28. I intend to use it to carry my laptop to work, or for when I do the biweekly run for magazines or comics. Will likely use it more this Spring. Thinking of pinning a few brooches to one of its corners (maybe because the fabric reminds me of outerwear).

JW Anderson buckle shoes

The one thing that looked great on me today. The silhouette with my pants… I love these shoes to the point of paranoia that one day I’ll irrevocably damage them.

Gucci camera bag

Note to self: Don’t ever wear this crossbody bag over the trucker coat; the generous armholes competed with the short thick straps of this bag. Felt uncomfortable and looked even worse.

Tomorrow’s another day to try again!
