Unfixable

Exhaustion clung like a heavy blanket for most of the day. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the trek to the Mission for a cherry scone, the mundanity of Presidents’ Day, or the weight of soft cashmere that kept me on the precipice between conscious and dreamland. The indulgent Chinese food for lunch surely didn't help.

Despite the dragging fatigue, I managed to get myself to the gym. Guilt be gone—I showed up, and apparently that’s what counts.

Isabel Marant sneakers

I felt like a scone instead of my usual breakfast, so I put these on and hopped on BART to Arizmendi.

It just dawned on me how the only Isabel Marant item that I own has very little DNA of the brand in it. Something to think about as I near my birthday shopping day.

Maeve / Anthropologie zebra cashmere sweater

Found at Crossroads for $24. 100% cashmere. With a knit zebra that runs along your side. Apart from my once-beloved Sandro leather jacket ($125), perhaps the best thing I’ve score at Crossroads.

Engineered Garments pink scarf
Johnson Leathers chevron jacket

Yes, the scarf doesn’t provide much in the way of warmth. Yes, it looks like a table runner. But the color (poorly captured here) goes so nicely with black gleaming leather. And it was on sale at Nepenthes so whatever.

Prada Brique bag

I once had a second Brique, in silver spazzolato leather. It was a smaller version, impulsively snatched up in San Diego while visiting my family for Thanksgiving. Boy I loved that bag, and it added a punch to every ABC outfit. The following June, before a disastrous company work event, I was in Milan during a heatwave of such scorching magnitude that it caused the finish of the leather to crack and peel. My friend and I rushed to the very first Prada shop in the Galleria to get help, but after having it sent back for repairs, they declared it unfixable, and I had to opt for an exchange (which I ended up selling).

The Tragedy of the Silver Prada Brique Bag, by yours truly.
