Tyrannosaurus arms

Robbie Williams 1995 tee

The National Portrait Gallery’s retrospective on the photographic work from The Face brought back the 90s through images including Thom Yorke, Massive Attack, the Spice Girls, Ryan Gosling, the cast of Kids, and Kate Moss, with “Buffalo Stance” on repeat. I nabbed the companion coffee table book and a tee of Robbie to keep the nostalgia alive.

Velvet tapestry coat

After combing the racks at End, Clutch Cafe, Liberty, Machine A, and numerous vintage shops, I finally found my birthday present to myself in Spitalfields Market. I always fall hard for something whenever I stop here before a Nando’s break.

What better time to break it in than at my last meal at Sketch? My repeat visits (this trip alone) did not go unnoticed by Henry, my server, who loved not having to explain anything to me, and gave me a sweet farewell note.

Dior winklepickers

As much as I love London, its preloved designer offerings aren’t the strongest. Notting Hill Retro Clothing is one of the few places that gets high marks for always yielding surprising pieces; I tried on Craig Green, Dries, and some harshly cut jackets in my first five minutes in the store. Yes, the jackets are hung too high for me and my tyrannosaurus arms to reach, but the staff are friendly and helpful.

These shapely £70 beauts look like Hedi Slimane-era Dior. Let’s just say that they are. They suited yet another meal at Sketch.
