A placebo at play
The winter chill hit hard yesterday. Thankfully, I was smart enough to bundle up before meeting a long-lost pal of mine from my Atlassian era (waiting for her at Bush and Montgomery wasn’t wise - that intersection is a wind vortex from all four corners). We scurried to the Third Floor floor for fish, burrata salad, bell pepper hummus, and piping hot gossip. Why discuss foreign policy over dinner when you can stalk former colleagues on LinkedIn?
The Scroll and Dine outfit
Club Monaco solid cashmere scarf
Another post-holiday bargain find from over a decade ago. This is the only “quiet luxury” item in my wardrobe. Top grade cashmere in the most unassuming shade. What’s even more luxurious is the generous cut: unfurled, this thing is significantly longer than my entire body. Aesthetically and philosophically, though, I’m ardently anti-quiet L. I prefer my luxury loud.
Nike waffle trainers
When wearing a dramatic coat, I like undermining its formality with sneakers and a cap. The French do it so I’ll follow their lead.
Jones NY coat
The best option for last night’s cold front. Very much like wearing a (chic) blanket to dinner.
Sheep hat
This doesn’t necessarily keep my head warm, but it looks warm, so there’s a placebo at play here.
Chanel Boy Reverso bag
Squishy and functional. The chains in Chanel bags were inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s upbringing in the Abbaye de Aubazine, where the nuns wore chains to hold their keys or rosaries. When you pair your coat and bag into an ensemble that looks and feels a little monastic, you’re on the right(eous) path.
